Company Profile
Jiangsu Shenghuang New Energy Technology Co..Ltd. is located in Wuxi Liangxi district Jinshan North science and Technology Industrial Park, is a factory commitment to wind generators, solar monitoring system, wind and solar complementary monitoring system, photovoltaic system, wind and solar complementary controller, inverter,Gel battery, Lithium Battery Development and integrated application of green energy saving and environmental protection technology enterprises.
A vertical axis wind turbine (or VAWT) has a main rotor shaft arranged vertically. An advantage of this arrangement is that the turbine does not need to be pointed into the wind to be effective, which is an advantage in locations where the wind direction is highly variable. This is also an advantage when the turbine is integrated into a building, as it is inherently less maneuverable. Additionally, the generator and gearbox can be placed close to the ground, using direct drive from the rotor assembly to the ground gearbox, improving maintenance accessibility.
Vertical axis wind turbines (VAWT) are a unique power generation technology. Historically, they have been reduced to a small niche in commercial wind turbines due to their "no yaw" design. Current VAWT designs lag horizontal axis wind turbines (HAWTs) in efficiency, which is measured by the power factor. However, new research suggests that these types of wind turbines may be more suitable for wind farm installations than previously thought. This chapter will review and discuss VAWT farm research. The different parameters of the VAWT design will then be outlined, looking at designs suitable for installation in optimized wind farms.
In recent years, vertical axis wind turbines have grown with many large Darrieus-type wind turbines being built in the US and the Musgrove wind turbine being tested in the UK. Both types of turbines are now well known in the field of wind energy research. At Napier College, work on wind energy has historically been centered on student projects. Wind energy work complements solar research work. In 1978, research on vertical axis turbines began. It has been argued that there are other possible options beyond the basic Musgrove design. In 1979, alternatives were presented at the British Wind Energy Association's first Wind Energy Symposium. For example, a similar scheme to increase robustness for improved performance was independently proposed by Musgrove and Mays (1978) and subsequently developed to include low aspect ratio effects (1980). Small vertical axis wind turbines have not yet hit the market in large numbers. Further work is required to improve wind turbine performance, power conversion, reliability and overall economic viability. To that end, staff at the Napier Institute are working on a Scientific Research Council-funded research program that will examine the various possibilities highlighted in the recent survey.
